Constantin BrancusiThe greatest sculptor of the 20th century, Constantin Brancusi, central figure of the modern artistic movement and pioneer of abstraction, is considered the father of modern sculpture. The uniqueness of his sculptures comes from their elegance and the sensible use of his materials which combine the simplicity of Romanian folk art and the elegant Parisian avant-gardism. The most important characteristics of Brancusi's art are probably verticality, horizontality, density and the interest he shows in the use of light and space. His work has had a great influence on the modern concept of “form” in sculpture, painting and drawing. Brancusi was born in 1876 in the village of Habita. During his childhood he learned to carve wood, to make different household utensils, because at that time in Romania those were made of wood as well as the facades and pillars. The style of these ornaments will influence Brancus' work. Brancusi stated that his way of life was influenced by his country of origin and this means simplicity, common sense and love of nature. At the age of nine he left home and had to fend for himself by working for six years in a small shop in Craiova helping the owner continue to carve wood. He made a violin for himself and caught the attention of a customer. This client helped Brancusi get admitted to the School of Fine Arts in Craiova. In 1889, after graduating from high school, Brancusi entered the School of Fine Arts in Bucharest. Although he felt attracted more to the art and sculptures created by independents rather than those of academics within the school, the artist thoroughly studied the anatomy and modeling of “Ecorsul”, a sculpture created in that period of time in 1902 to be... . half of the card......balance and harmony will reign. Faithful to the philosophy and aesthetics chosen at the beginning, Socrates and Milapere Brancusi dominated his era by introducing a new desire for universality linked to the desire for peace. and the rejection of catastrophes. Upon his death, Brancusi donated his works to the Paris Museum of Art with the sole condition that his workshop be completely rebuilt within the museum. His sculptures can be admired in private collections and museums around the world such as the Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Solomon R.
