Children tend to learn more when they know why what they are learning is important and if the material is presented in an interesting way. Let's take for example a kindergarten teacher who has to teach her class the different shapes. Instead of simply showing his students a poster with the different shapes, he has the students get up from their seats and start exploring the classroom for differently shaped objects. Once they have found some objects, ask them to share with the class what the object is and what shape it has.
