Our senses are very important because they allow us to see, hear, smell, taste and touch so that we can experience the life around us. The eye is the most important sensory organ. It is the organ of sight and is very sensitive. We should therefore protect our eyes from diseases; such as macular edema, cataract, dry macular enteration and red eyes. We have all experienced red eyes at least once in our lives, affecting one or both eyes. This makes us wonder: what is red eye? What can cause it? And how can we treat the causes?. Red eye is a cardinal sign of ocular inflammation. It occurs when the blood vessels in the eye become swollen or irritated. Red eyes occur as a result of blepharitis, dry eye syndrome, or conjunctivitis (med scape, 2012). First, red eyes occur due to the disease conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis, commonly called pink eye, is an infection or inflammation in the eye area. The effect of viruses, bacteria and allergies is pink eye disease. For example, viral conjunctivitis is the result of an infection with herpes simplex virus (HSV), varicella zoster virus (VZV), or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It can be transferred from one person to another. Additionally, bacterial conjunctivitis has common causes including staphylococci, streptococci, gonococci, and chlamydia. Furthermore, allergic conjunctivitis can be divided into five main subdivisions. They are seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (SAC), perennial allergic conjunctivitis (PAC), vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC), atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC), and giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC). The causes of inflammation are multiple; therefore, there are many symptoms including redness in the white part of the eye or in the inner eyelid, increased amount of tears... in the center of the paper... er, it has several symptoms including foreign body sensation, itching, irritation , burning and excessive tearing. You can protect your eyes from dry eye syndrome by preventing many risks, such as; dry, hot or windy climates, high altitudes, air-conditioned rooms and cigarette smoking (medscape, 2013). In summary, due to dry eyes, conjunctivitis and blepharitis, red eyes may occur. Red eyes are a common disease that affects our ability to see. furthermore, there are numerous symptoms of dry eye, pink eye and blepharitis; for example; redness of the white of the eye or the inner eyelid, increased amount of tears and foreign body sensation. Now you can prevent your eyes from becoming red by using lubricating eye drops, washing your hands regularly, adding tears, conserving tears, increasing tear production and sometimes you will need doctor's help.
