Topic > Essay on Causes: What Causes a Divorce? - 1553

When communication is lacking, relationships seem to fall apart. So, after all, two people who were supposed to be partners, ultimately end up going to court to legally separate. After all, when there is little or no communication or any other type of emotional connection, divorce seems to be the only way to resolve the problem. “Many couples get married because they share similar beliefs, but as time goes by, people also change.” (Odinity.com). Another problem that has led to lack of communication is that everyone is so busy working; they don't feel the need to talk to their husband or wife. Some couples are often silent even when they have problems with each other, but instead decide not to address them. As a result, small problems will begin to expand into larger problems, resulting in divorce. This doesn't happen in a happy marriage because partners in a healthy relationship seem to have a more open way of talking to each other. They discuss everything to make sure they are, so to speak, on the same page. Divorce is commonly done due to the lack of ability to talk openly with each other and express their feelings and emotions. However, this is not the main issue as to why people get divorced. As the economy grows, so does human intellect. Couples therapy is a very popular solution to most marital problems these days. If people feel their marriage is at risk, many choose the option of going to couples therapy. Not only is it effective, many have said it is satisfying. “Over 98% of respondents reported receiving good or excellent couples therapy, and over 97% of respondents said they received the help they needed.”
