ConservationEnvironmental problems are mainly generated by economic activity, therefore they should be solved together with economic activity. In both developed and developing countries, there is always an argument, saying which comes first, economic development or environmental conservation? The former follows the “development first, conservation later” model while the latter follows the “conservation during development” model. For developing countries, also known as Third World countries, what model should be followed to achieve a win-win situation, benefiting both humans and the environment. However, some powerful insights argue against the view that Third World countries should adopt the “develop first, conservation later” model. They believe that for developing countries, the best way is to find a way in which both development and conservation are mutually beneficial by converting resources obtained from the environment and turning the resources into profits that aid economic growth, subsequently using these profits and use it as compensation for the conversation about the environment to compensate the loss of environment with the profits obtained. This method combines both environmental protection and economic development and forms a mutual benefit between the two. Third world countries are able to protect the environment although they have lower income levels than first and second world countries. For various reasons, economic development is different among developing countries. Therefore, developing countries must not follow the path of developed countries that develop the economy first and then simply preserve the environment. Environmental conservation does not only depend on economic growth, “middle paper” and “public destruction” of the situation, and ultimately achieves the goal of combating desertification.
