To begin with, it is reiterated that the National Service causes more harm than good to participants. Students' time can be spent wisely if they take certain courses that are relevant to the course they will pursue in universities. It is undeniable that participants will gain valuable experiences by participating in the program. However, this so-called experience or knowledge is hardly used in everyday life. Let's take the use of the M4A1 rifle as an example. Participants are unlikely to use the rifle once they leave the program. It may be the first and last time they use the rifle. Therefore, the importance of exposing participants to this type of weapon could be questioned. There was a real case where a participant said that the lesson on using the weapon was not worth it at all and he forgot how to use the weapon just a few months after leaving the program. This is just one of many module contents that should be reviewed. Instead, students' time would be better spent taking courses that will prepare them for college life. For example, students could take English courses offered by established parties such as the British Council of Malaysia. It is known that most universities in Malaysia use English as the medium of instruction. Since English is a problematic subject for many students, it would be beneficial for them if they could improve their proficiency in the language within three months before entering universities. One of the objectives of the National Service is to promote integration between the different races in Malaysia. However, this goal would not be achieved for several reasons. As mentioned above, participants in the......middle of paper......ment of NS in 2004. Rape, bullying, and racial abuse are among the cases that occurred in the camps. To make matters worse, the number of cases shows no sign of stopping or decreasing. In this case, the procedural standard of these camps could be called into question. It seems that management treats these cases like a pinch of salt and there may be many cases that have not been exposed to the public. Parents will feel insecure about letting their children enter this program. Some of them may create various reasons to exclude their child from the program. This shows that this program is not well accepted by either teenagers or parents. It can be said that this program offers benefits only to contractors, uniform suppliers, food suppliers and so on. With these reasons it is reiterated that the National Service (NS) program should be abolished.
