Book review The Trail of Tears: The Story of American Indian Removal 1813-1855. By Jahoda, Gloria. (New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1975. Pp. 356. Preface, notes, bibliography, index.) In his 1975 book The Trail of Tears: The Story of the American Indian Removals 1813-1855 (published by Holt, Rinehart and Winston) author Jahoda Gloria, as the title suggests, deals only with the actual events of the tragedies and journeys associated with the removal of Eastern Indians from the west bank of the Mississippi before the Civil War. The author also highlights the events that happen before and after and how bitter the experience would continue for many tribes in their new home. The author dedicated this book to the Creek Nation east of the Mississippi, particularly to Sakim, and also in memory of his great-grandfather. The author warns us in the preface that the book is not a neutral and impartial study of Indian deportation which in itself would force historians to make a judgment.
