Some have come to disagree whether this is really a good thing, since the detention center is not even on US soil. It is located a couple of miles from the coast, in a place where OUR center should not be: Cuba. One of the questions raised is whether the detention of these people is legal, since the detention center is not located inland of the United States. Even the policy that we hold prisoners without any charges. Do we have a nation authorized to do this? Since the center is not under our jurisdiction. During the early days of the war in Afghanistan, the Bush administration detained suspected Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters without legally charging them with any acts.
