Thanks to the more “war-focused” economy Canada developed during the Second World War, we greatly improved our financial situation and even emerged from the economic depression. Before our war, Canada was primarily a commodity-based nation, producing and exporting such things as grain, newsprint, and pulp and paper. That all changed when, shortly after entering the war, Canada's recently appointed Minister of Munitions and Supplies, CD Howe, rebuilt our economy to focus more on the war. Soon after, allies around the world were relying on us to provide anything war-related that might have been needed. Canada became a very important industrial power and was relied on to produce and send things like bombs, munitions, aircraft, and even various seagoing vessels. The incredible amount of wartime industries introduced thousands of new job opportunities for Canadians across the country in all different fields. Thanks to these new possibilities, wages, sales, salaries and unemployment had all seen a great improvement from their dismal state of previous years. For many Canadians on the home front, this booming new economy has been a welcome breath of fresh air; it's safe to say it was a huge relief for almost everyone. Ultimately, this “World War II economy” had ended our depression and significantly improved our financial situation. Both on the home front and on the war front during the Second World War, Canadian women had seen greater responsibility and gained new expectations of the contributions that needed to be made. towards their country: in a certain sense, they were seen as more powerful and even more "equal" individuals. An example of a stronger sense of individuality was the fact that, while large numbers of young Canadians were out fighting... middle of paper... ions" during the post-war period of 1945. The new ideals It is also worthy of notes the fact that one of the first chances Canada had to prove its worth was seen in the 1950s, when Canada, as part of the United Nations, helped protect South Korea when the North Koreans were invading during the events of Korean War. With these new ideas and changes made, it was a big step forward in Canada's foreign country. It goes without saying that the idea of becoming a peaceful nation has remained a very important element in our culture. At least one episode of Mighty Mouse, Wolf! Wolf! has fallen into the public domain and is available at the Internet Archive.[3]
