Topic > Biography of Muhammad - 1174

The last prophet and founder of Islam, Muhammad, was one of the most influential leaders who ever lived. When his mother was six months pregnant with him, Abdullah, his father died of illness during a caravan journey between Medina and Mecca. Amina, her mother hated him because she accused Muhammad of bringing bad luck which caused her father's death. Once he was born he would give him to a Bedouin woman named Haleema. According to Arab tradition, Haleema took Muhammad with her to live in the desert because it was considered healthier for children. However, after a couple of years he would return Muhammad to his mother Amina; when Muhammad was in his sixth year, she also died due to illness. It was then that he was orphaned, but was then raised for two years under the tutelage of his grandfather Abdul Muttalib. At the age of eight his grandfather also died; he then lived with his uncle Abu Talib, the leader of a clan called Bani Hashim. Around this time his clan was running out of fortune, so Muhammad spent most of his time without eating. Despite everything that was happening in his life, he still managed to accompany his uncle on trading trips to Syria, gaining experience in trade, the only career open to Muhammad when he was an orphan. However, he later became a trader and was involved in trade between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Thanks to his upright character he acquired the nickname al-Amin (faithful and trustworthy). Even though he was illiterate, people looked to him as a wise man and asked him for advice. They turned to him to resolve their differences and disputes and they all accepted his arbitration (decision). People had complete faith in him... middle of paper... there. Emerging as a legend from an ordinary environment is not easy, but those who follow the right path can get there easily. He is a legend for many reasons; one of which is that millions of people take his name every minute despite him having died many centuries ago. Muhammad is the supreme example of a family man, loving husband, doting father and doting grandfather. He was also a perfect example of an ordinary person who became a legend over time and struggle.
