In modern society, the topic of capital punishment remains controversial. Many people question the morality and ethics of executing a human being for a crime they have committed, which is undoubtedly a valid argument. However, murder is a crime that involves taking the life of another human being and such an act must be punished justly. We are a society that generally believes that a punishment should be appropriate to the crime committed. Life in prison (three hot meals a day, a bed, medical care, and cable television) is not an adequate punishment for a capital crime. Those who argue that capital punishment is immoral and unethical would probably say that murder is also immoral and unethical. So, to say that capital punishment for a capital crime is immoral and unethical is hypocritical.
