Topic > The most successful empire: the Roman or the Mongol?

The Roman Empire lasted from 201 BC to 476 AD and conquered many neighboring lands, including the Mediterranean, and covered all of Western Europe and half of Great Britain. On the other hand, the Mongol Empire lasted from 1206 AD to 1386 AD and conquered much of Russia, Islam, and many Slavic peoples. Their conquests were swift and brutal, often leaving thousands dead in their wake and successfully becoming the civilization that had conquered the most land. Although both two empires were very successful, in my opinion, the Roman Empire was more successful because it lasted much longer, was ruled by many powerful and successful leaders such as Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great, and also because it left behind many positive legacies that are still used today. The Romans left behind a significant amount of extraordinary legacies that still stand or still have an immense impact on the world today. They built over 53,000 miles of roads to connect all the provinces of the empire, constructed mostly by the army and built by hand. The Romans were responsible for the construction of the Aqueduct, that is, the bridges that brought water to the cities. Additionally, the Romans built public latrines and sewer pipe systems to carry sewage off the streets and into the Tiber River, then into the sea. The language "Latin" was first started and perfected by the Romans, which was written in an alphabet obtained from the Greek alphabet. Latin eventually evolved into one of the "Romance languages", still used in the former Roman lands. English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian are all "Romance languages". The word “Romance” comes from the word “Roman”.
