This article is about a mother who committed a heinous crime; the killing of his son. Tariji Gordon was not only killed, but she was beaten, burned and bitten by her mother. This article will show the events of that fateful day and the evidence of the case. Rachel Fryer, 33, was arrested Feb. 11, 2014 when she admitted to burying her 2-year-old daughter, Tariji, in Putnam County. Fryer claims the little girl was dead when she placed her body in a suitcase and had a friend drive her to Putnam County to bury her. Was Tariji's death an accident or murder? I believe the evidence in the case will show that Rachel Fryer killed her daughter and possibly her son years ago. What could drive a mother to abuse and kill her children? Rachel Fryer was a mother of seven, with another child on the way. The daily stresses of life aren't easy for a family of four; so it must be very difficult to be a single mother of seven children, with no income other than student loans and food stamps. To add to the stress, one of the children had medical needs to take care of. Rachel Fryer was no stranger to the Department of Children and Families. By 2002 he had been facing abuse and neglect charges. Over the years, her children were taken away from her and placed with foster families. Fryer spent six months in prison in 2012 for a probation violation. Caroline Rowland, News13 reporter writes: "The social worker assigned to Fryer had less than six months' experience" (2014). On March 12, 2014, a grand jury indicted Fryer on five counts. The charges include: first degree criminal homicide, aggravated manslaughter, two counts of aggravated child abuse, tampering with evidence (Dendy, 2014).
