“Integrative awareness is especially important today as our science-driven and technologically advanced world is breaking down into continuous silos, specializations and disciplines, even as the interdependence of globalization is creating more connections with other cultures through which empathic understanding is vital” (Ma 258). In this new and evolving world, cultural connections contribute to the advancements that are taught in schools. This is what globalization itself looks like and empathetic thinking is necessary. However, lecturing on topics that require such reflection can point all students in a direction that is not necessarily their own. Therefore, regular core lessons should include the benefits of art and culture using the diversity of personal experiences that each student has received in the outside world. “The student body could become truly global, in part because Minerva's policy is to admit students without regard to national origin” (Wood 508). Minerva's diverse student population allows students to have access to diverse personal perspectives that could be used in the core curriculum. Instead of teaching what can be absorbed in these experiences, the student should be encouraged to become as involved outside the classroom as possible
