Topic > Analysis of the absolutely true diary of a part-timer...

The obvious and strongest detail that both stories would show is how both characters are confident and determined. An example of this is the entire first stanza of the poem, which explains how, "'Hope' is the thing with feathers - That sits in the soul - And sings the melody without words - And never stops - at all -” ( Dickinson 1-4) The whole stanza ties back to the main point because it describes the characteristics of the bird, such as the fact that the bird never stops and is strong everywhere, which is a link to hope. This is because hope can be very strong and always lasts and never stops, just like Junior is. Even though Junior doesn't think much of him, calling himself "stupid" and "retarded", he still has one goal: to be noticed by the world. He would do anything for the world to admire him, which is why when his family was home, Junior said, "I want to go to Reardan." (Alexie 46) This can really tie back to the main point because of how firm he was when he said it. No funny jokes like Junior usually does, not even other words he was saying. He was just saying it in a matter where he would feel confident to follow and achieve his dreams. And dreams like those in Junior's condition would be impossible considering the fact that almost every Indian would do it
