When Bluetooth is enabled, it continuously searches for new devices to connect with, thus draining battery power. Battery consumption usually occurs with cell phones but also with other devices such as media players. When Bluetooth is not in use it should be turned off to conserve battery power. Turning off Bluetooth when not in use not only saves battery power, but also limits the risk of hackers accessing user data without authorization. This leads to another poor security issue. Bluetooth security is weak compared to Wi-Fi, and unwanted users can access it if they are in close proximity. If a cable were used instead of Bluetooth, battery consumption would be normal and the danger of hackers accessing user data would be reduced.
