Job stress can be explained as the destructive emotional and physical response that occurs when the requirements of the job do not match the employee's potential, resources or needs. Work stress can lead to health problems and even injuries. Stress triggers an alarm in the brain, which responds by switching the body to the defense stage. The nervous system stimulates the hormones necessary to protect itself and prepare for defense, these hormones are released in the different senses and also begin to accelerate the heart rate and pulse, it can cause muscle tension and deepen breathing. This response is called the fight-or-flight response. This response is fundamental because it helps us defend ourselves from threatening situations. When affected by stress, people may simply have a stressful reaction or episode, but ultimately be able to move on. When a situation continues and stress levels increase, the body is kept in a continuous state of activation, which increases the degree of damage to biological systems.
