In the play “The Music Lessons” by Wakako Yamauchi two of the main characters are engaged in a dialogue that is common between a mother and a daughter. In act two, scene four, Chizuko and Aki appear to express frustration with each other after Aki returns home late from a music lesson with Kaoru. Chizuko knows that there is something very wrong for her young daughter who spends so much time with an adult man, to be so angry at Aki: “CHIZUKO: I mean at other people! How do you think it is: are you always in a man's room?" (2.4). For a mother, trying to connect with her daughter is a very frustrating task. It is difficult for Chizuko to show Aki that all her frustration it's in his best interest: “CHIZUKO: I have a lot to worry about. I have to see you have enough to eat, give you an education, see that you're dressed decently, so people won't say, 'Those kids don't have a father.' you are left with debts, as happened to me. Make sure you don't make a mess (of)…” (2,4). all her emotions towards this adult man, Aki not understanding this Chizuko gets angry: “CHIZUKO: I know you don't care... right now.
