Signs that demonstrate this behavior are when a person spends more time on their phone than interacting with the people around them. “These people probably feel such a strong sense of dignity online that they have some difficulty separating their virtual actions from their real ones.” (Strogatz) Not only is social media changing the way we communicate, but it is also changing language. From friends to selfies, social media is clearly having an impact on language. As someone who writes about social media, I am aware not only of how quickly these online platforms change, but also how they affect the language in which I write.
