Topic > Practical Pharmacy Experience 2: An Introduction to...

Also, it gave me the opportunity to learn the basics of pharmacy management, how resources are allocated within the hospital, how economically l The hospital complies with laws and regulations from the board of pharmacy and insurance companies. I am sure that what I learned from this experience will facilitate my continuing education, as it was an opportunity to learn more about the role of the pharmacist and his involvement in management, in addition to his common role as a patient educator. I am confident that if the opportunity presents itself to be a department leader in a hospital, I will be able to assess the needs of the hospital and ensure that all the appropriate resources are available. For example, regardless of the size of the hospital, I will observe whether the amount of staff on duty best and efficiently performs the tasks required by the hospital. In other words I will evaluate whether there will be a need to hire more people. Furthermore, I will evaluate whether the role played by each person is producing the desired results or whether a reallocation of tasks is necessary. Automated systems will be considered and implemented, especially systems that can help reduce human error. I will make sure to hold meetings where all staff receive input on whether they feel comfortable with the new changes or not, and together I will determine what other resources can be implemented to improve and make the medication dispensing process a more stifled process and efficient. This will ultimately lead to effective medication management that will meet state requirements and ultimately lead to fewer medication errors and safe medication implementation.
