The three parts are mechanical tests, elaborate tests and schemas. Rote repetition is mechanized to remember the most boring things like names, phone numbers, addresses, passwords, social security numbers, etc. Elaborative repetition connects new information to things we already know and makes the new information much more meaningful. Mnemonics helps make new information easier to remember, such as songs or hymns, or the number of days in a year. Recorded notes from lectures or video content in class are or should be processed within a few days by review. Elaboration in a sense interprets the notes you have taken or even shortens them by providing the added ideas and searches for sources of support other than conferences or publications of some kind. Schema is a cognitive representation of an event, situation, or object that is stored as memories that make you believe that your past experience will guide or persuade your present experiences (Morris, Charles G., and Albert A.
