We must accept the reality that communication is a two-way street. Taking the time to discover the real problem will make it much easier to find the most appropriate solution. While you can't approach every problem like a math problem, understanding the fundamentals can make it easier to solve. Avoid the pitfalls of communication by refraining from refusal to communicate and/or pacify, which means calming or soothing someone by being polite or giving in to requests. These behaviors are counterproductive to effective interpersonal communication and show a lack of understanding. Many times simply walking away and reviewing the situation can shed light on how serious or insignificant a given problem may be. After you walk away, it might give you time to realize that the problem isn't worth the amount of anger or emotion you put into it, and frankly that might be nice
