Early salsa music from 1970 to 1980 will be the focus of this study on the world music genre. Salsa music includes salsa music and songs, which was developed in New York before its recognition in the 1970s. Cuban as the origin of salsa, however, the first salsa music was believed to have come from New York before 1970. "Salsa" has the meaning of "salsa" and was a product of the interaction between African Americans and Latinos in New York City who tried to come together to identify their culture and maintain a sense of belonging among them. Salsa gets its name because salsa music developed in New York and the word "salsa" appeared on songs or records before it became a type of music used for marketing. Salsa songs reflected the society in different times with the lyrics written in the songs, the changes in expression or emotion through the lyrics were involved with the changing culture within the societies. In the following study on the genre of world music, the achievements of salsa music will be divided into three parts, the origins, context, creators and artists will be discussed. The period 1970-1980 will be the focus of the study as the first sauce. Origins will consider how salsa is developed, carefully examining how and where "salsa" music began to flourish and the people involved in salsa's development. How and why "salsa" got its name from this type of music. The context of the music will also be discussed. The creators and performers of early salsa will be studied, how and where these people were connected to each other, and who the prominent artists are in that period. The musical lyrics are mainly about romance, feelings about everyday life, political and social issues that reflect Latin American experiences and their culture. Salsa is performed in English, Spanish or Spanglish with the influence of his background, Latin American who speaks Spanish or descendant of Latino born and raised in New York who expresses himself in English better than in Spanish.
