Topic > Four types of lies - 802

This is part of impression management. I even used the self-enhancement trick just last week during my job interview. I didn't tell the manager anything negative about me, I just said things that would make me seem like the perfect employee. Afterwards, I felt pretty good about how the interview went and I ended up getting the job! Selfish Deception: Have you ever told a lie that protected you but perhaps hurt others? You probably told a selfish lie. An example of this would be when you call in sick to work when in reality you are simply too tired, lazy, or have other commitments. This forces all your colleagues to work very hard to make up for your absence. I remember one time, in high school, I had a basketball practice right after school, but I decided to tell my coach that I was sick. I had stayed up late the night before doing homework and really needed to go home, relax, and catch up on sleep. The next day, I found out that the team had to do extra rounds because three girls, including me, had called in sick to practice. I felt so bad that they all had to run more, they were probably tired too, but they went to train anyway. Antisocial
