He thought his ugliness was ugly and distracting. Aphrodite soon found someone she loved and that was Ares. Ares thought it was a good idea for him and Aphrodite to start a family and get married. But Hephaestus knew something was happening, so he acted. He built a bed that joined them together. While Ares and Aphrodite were lying together on the bed, the chains jumped out of the bed and caught the two together.
