Many think that today's youth are getting worse and imply that the way things were done is superior to the way they are done now. Making friends has been a part of culture longer than most things. In the past, the way a person found their mate was through courtship. Parents, families and sometimes even the community keep an eye on a couple to ensure that their sexual interaction is maintained in an acceptable manner and to ensure that children are not born out of wedlock. In the 19th and 20th centuries these feelings were caused by sexual attraction, which then increased the importance of sexual interaction.
