Because healthcare in America is expensive, many people choose not to have coverage. Another negative aspect that raises questions among Italian citizens is that Italy spends a significantly lower amount on healthcare than the other fifteen European countries, which allocate 9.2% of their gross domestic product (GDP) (Bruttometto). This status places the Italian healthcare system in second place nationally, so the question arises: why are there so many limitations and lack of development (Bruttometto)? The main reason why the Italian national healthcare system was made available was to ensure equality in the distribution of healthcare (Bruttometto). However, some Italian citizens are beginning to wonder whether it is worth sharing equally or whether, given the circumstances of the financing, they are willing to do without it (Bruttometto). It appears that the problems of unequal distribution are not improving, which seems to suggest that policies continue to fail to find a solution
