Topic > A report of a concert I attended - 728

I attended a piano trio concert. The instruments were obviously a piano, a cello and a violin. The concert was performed by two adults and one student. The student played the cello. The concert was held here on the Oklahoma State campus at Willard Hall. The room he was in was relatively small. It wasn't a real concert hall, it was more like a small living room. Piano trios are meant for a smaller audience, so it worked well. There were about 30 people in the room watching the show. The music played came from different musical areas. The smaller setting made it easier to focus on the musicians and what they were doing while playing these songs. The first song performed by the piano trio was Haydn C Major Trio. This piece is from the classical period of music. The Baroque period is known for many of the smaller setting pieces written in that period, so piano trios were quite popular in this period. The piece consisted of three movements in the order fast, slow and fast. The piano and violin were present in this movement and you could tell that their parts were quite difficult. The first part of this piece was in sonata form, the second was in ABA ternary form, and the third was another part in sonata form. The piece changed pace as it went along, which really seemed to engage people. You may also hear repetition of the intro and some themes throughout the piece. This piece was a lot of fun. It was probably my favorite piece played at this concert. The tempo change really made you pay more attention and it wasn't slow or boring. The sonata forms allowed the musicians to perform the more difficult parts of the pieces and were a lot of fun to watch. This piece too... half of the sheet... the outside and the final movement were the finale. This movement carried over the themes of the first and third movements and gave the piece a feeling of closure. This movement was faster and stronger than the previous movements. I liked this piece. It was very interesting and used the differences in dynamics to keep people interested. The themes in the movements differed and really caught my attention. This and the first piece of the concert were very beautiful and I really enjoyed them. This concert was very beautiful and fun. The performance overall was very good and easy to listen to. I really liked all the songs they played except the second one. I had never been to a chamber music concert before this, but I really enjoyed the setting and being close to the musicians. The concert overall was very nice and I would go back to another similar one
