The Affordable Care Act of 2010 will have a positive effect on patient safety and outcomes. It will provide many resources to give patients easier access to insurance for health care costs and preventative care such as cancer screenings and vaccines. It will give incentives to health facilities to improve the care provided. Healthcare facilities are also expected to use electronic health record systems to track all patient information to minimize errors. The legislation will increase federal nursing student loans to increase the number of highly qualified nurses entering practice. It will also increase federal funding given to nurse-led facilities to benefit their care to promote patient outcomes. This legislation will reduce the cost of healthcare for patients and healthcare facilities by decreasing the risk of medical errors and poor patient outcomes. The legislation will make health coverage easier and less expensive to obtain than in the past. It is designed to make it realistic for every American to have health coverage. The Affordable Insurance Exchange will make this possible. It will allow people looking for insurance to compare health insurance companies and prices to fit what they need or want for health coverage. Utilize programs and tax credits that can possibly make insurance more affordable for people who qualify. Individuals with health coverage are more likely to prevent disease or receive early detection treatment for a condition that, if not discovered in its early stages, could be fatal.
