i, p. 673, James posed a question asking whether one could accept what he dubbed "Automatic Sweetheart" (a robot) as a human being if it were made with no obvious difference between a machine and a human being. It would be a soulless body that could laugh, show emotion, and do all the things a human could do as if there were a soul within it. Could we accept him as human? James thought not. That as human beings we crave attention. We crave love, admiration and the need to be recognized. From what I have learned so far in psychology, there are many different points of view. I do not believe nor have I ever believed in a single truth. Everyone's truths are different. Each of us has our own mind and perceives completely different things from others. So, regarding James's proposal of pragmatism, for me, trying to get to a truth is simply not possible, if we're speaking in a personal sense.
