This curriculum aligns standards and content with assessments, allowing teachers to have a clear picture of expectations and the different activities and resources that can be used to help students students to achieve their goals. It provides an overview for educators, allowing them to keep standards and outcomes in mind as they teach content. Standards, content and assessments are analyzed and evaluated to ensure their appropriateness in meeting the needs of the population. The standards-based curriculum offers opportunities for modifications and adaptations to meet the needs of all pupils. It has equitable outcomes for all students. When students are unable to achieve these goals, additional strategies and interventions can be implemented to ensure these goals are achieved. One weakness that I believe the standards-based curriculum has is the lack of teacher training prior to implementation. In order for teachers to successfully implement the curriculum and help students meet the standards, they must be comfortable with the content and understand the curriculum. After a school district decides to implement a standards-based curriculum, administrators, school and district staff must provide professional development to ensure that teachers are comfortable with the curriculum and are able to implement it appropriately. Once training is provided, educators must take responsibility for implementing the agreed upon curriculum and providing students with the best education
