McCarthyism was there to remove the communist threat from America before it overthrew the government. Many people argue its beneficial or harmful benefits for America. In Schrecker's book, "The Age of McCarthyism," he discusses the goals, policies and practices of the Communist Party, as well as provides a variety of documents such as court cases, letters and interviews that give perspective. Most of the documents show how high-ranking officials of the Communist Party and how McCarthyism could be considered useful in uncovering the true intentions of the Communist.
