In Mocking Jay by Suzanne Collins, Katniss takes on her new position as the rebel of District 13, a secret district that is rebelling against the capital. Katniss and some of her friends were lucky enough to escape from the second Hunger Games, but Peeta was not so lucky as he was captured by the capital. Peeta warns District 13 of the capital's plans to bomb District 13, and Katniss and the rest of District 13 retreat underground for a few days and when all is clear, Katniss makes a proposal while a rebel squad goes to retrieve Peeta from the capital. . The rebel team successfully recover Peeta but find that he has been brainwashed and now thinks Katniss is the enemy and tries to kill her and fails but kills his sister and other rebels.
