In an article by Zmoreski, "38% of our message is through our voice which includes pitch and tone with only 7% through the words we actually say" (Zmoreski 2013 ¶ 3) The use of one's voice has several characteristics that can create different meanings when men and women communicate in the workplace. Characteristics can translate emotions, attitudes and feelings. Comparing tone and tone between men and women, women were found to be pleasant to talk to and enthusiastic. According to Schmitz, women usually speak in softer, whispery tones to accentuate their differences in tone. (Schmitz 2012) These two qualities are very important because they help customers or other people in the workplace feel more comfortable. (Bognár 2012, slide 15) A woman's tone of voice also seems more emotional, hesitant and anxious. Putting emphasis on their words can help you understand how they feel about a particular issue.
