Childhood stints as a commercial model and actress brought Lohan into the spotlight at age three. As she transitioned from childhood to adulthood, it was becoming much more difficult to appear in the media as she had as a child. “The mass media determines the public agenda; it is they who, as a consequence of their system of selection and focusing of social events, assign priority to the topics of discussion on the agenda” (Pachef, 2010). Therefore, everything she had done in her personal life, the media had documented, ensuring that the public masses knew about Lohan. From his drug abuse to his nightlife stories, the media knew it. When she knew she had enough, the media couldn't let go because they had absorbed so much popularity and power from the public masses from all the stories behind Lohan. Instead of focusing on his recovery, he wanted to fuel the media through his actions because it was his only choice to steal the spotlight. The media had also distorted Lohan's image on and off screen, whether she was filming a new movie or having lunch with her parents, making her look like this "Scarlet A" person who loathes society.
