Smoking is a risk the smoker takes to his own health, he should consider who else he is harming. Regarding alcohol, a person who has been drinking and gets behind the wheel of a car is endangering his own life and also the life of anyone within his range; anyone who smokes in public in the presence of non-smokers, both adults and children, compromises the health not only of themselves but of everyone around them. Non-smokers choose to live their healthy lives under the guise of not consuming nicotine in their bodies, it doesn't seem fair that other people have the right to endanger the health of non-smokers without any punishment. If a nonsmoker were to die of a heart attack or other cardiovascular disease caused by secondhand smoke, smokers will not be charged with murder the way a drunk driver would be for hitting or killing someone else.
