Getting in touch with anyone anywhere in the world is no longer a problem. We can contact anyone on the move at any time. The basic concept of the cell phone was developed in the 1940s. Cell phones were the beginning of wireless communication. They are widely used nowadays. The number of mobile phone subscribers is increasing year by year. According to data from the International Institute of Communications (IIC), of the World Bank, in 1989 Great Britain had the second largest number of mobile phone subscribers after the United States. In 2000, half of US residents own a cell phone according to a major survey. This rapid development is linked to some early discoveries such as radio and radiotelephony. Technological development: From the 1980s to today many large mobile phone manufacturers such as Ericsson, Nokia, Siemens, Motorola and NEC have started to adopt and apply new technologies in their products and to maximize the quality of reception and transmission. Over the last 10 years the development of mobile telephony has been phenomenal. Now we can access the Internet even on cell phones. Using the wireless application protocol the user can access information from the Internet and services like SMS make connectivity too simple. In 1906 Reginald Fessenden introduced amplitude modulation which converted sound waves into signals. In 1935 Edwin Armstrong introduced frequency modulation of radio waves which used smaller waves, lighter receivers, and less wireless power. 1920s to 1950s In the early 1920s mobile radio communication was used in a vehicle by the Detroit Michigan Police Department.
