During the past twenty-five years, abortion has been one of the most hotly debated topics in the United States and Canada. The only topics that equate to the abortion debate are race and war. Abortion is a discussion about human interaction where ethics, emotions and law come together. There are people who have different views on abortion but, whatever their opinion, they fall within a fine line. There is pro-choice and pro-life. These are the only two categories that people's opinions fall into. A pro-choice person would believe that the decision to terminate a pregnancy rests with mothers and that the government has no right to interfere. A pro-lifer would argue that from the moment of conception, the embryo or fetus is alive. Since this embryo or fetus is alive and is a person, you have no moral right to abort a life. If you aborted life (person) you would commit murder. The word “murder” is mostly used by pro-lifers to describe what happens when you abort an embryo/fetus. Murder is the deliberate and unjustified killing of another person with malice. How can you tell a woman that she cannot abort an embryo/fetus to terminate a pregnancy if it is the result of rape or incest? A woman cannot bear the thought of having a child who constantly reminds her of what happened that day and that number of years ago. The mother does not want to kill a child; wants to stop the growth of an embryo so that it does not become a child. The mother interrupts potential life. If the mother aborts the embryo at a very early stage, it is not even recognizable as human and that is why potential life is just that, potential. My personal belief is that every woman has the right to decide whether she wants to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Remember that termination of pregnancy may have to do with the health of the mother herself, perhaps the mother is unable to meet the needs of the baby after its birth, resulting in child abuse and mental illness. In these situations, in my opinion, abortion is a must. Most abortions occur because contraception fails, due to rape, or due to a serious medical condition of the mother, which could lead to her death. In these situations, abortion is often the only way to prevent the birth of an unwanted child or save a mother's life. In today's world pregnancy often has catastrophe... middle of paper...eering there are many pros and cons for each. It is mainly about how each individual perceives each abortion and genetic engineering situation. If a person sees abortion as a women's choice and can back up their opinions with evidence that it would be best for the mother, then don't try to destroy their opinions. If a person sees abortion as the taking of a life and wants to abolish it, let them have a chance to express their opinions. Remember that it's good to have views from both sides because that way people don't always see in a narrow view. When looking at genetic engineering, I hope people realize that this field of science could be very good for society and also very harmful. So, whatever our society decides to do with abortion and genetic engineering, let's remember the effects that could happen to the world as a whole. God gave us the freedom of choice and if He, as God, gives all of us this freedom, what right do we have to take it away from people's opinions? Bibliography “Induced abortion all over the world”.
