According to About.com they show that very few women who give birth choose to give up their babies: less than 3% of unmarried white women and less than 2% of unmarried black women (Lowen). Adoption is not the answer and it is harder to give up the baby once it has been inside you for 9 months and you have seen it and have to give up something that is part of you.
