All my hard work seemed to have been for nothing. It wasn't until a sorority sister reminded me of Edgar A. Guest's poem to Don't Give Up that I trusted in faith and trust in God. Every obstacle I encountered, which felt like a door, closed on me, another opened. I guess it was God's way of showing me that I can do anything I put my mind to as long as I trust in him. Despite everything life may throw at me, I cannot fail if I never give up. Wise words were spoken to me: “Where I am today is where my mind has put me, where I will be tomorrow is where my mind has put me. Don't give up. Keep pushing!” Fast forward to today. I am a proud Grenadier at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Indiana. I am a rising student at the IUS School of Nursing with a grade point average of 3.73. I want this experience to help anyone who may feel hopeless. Above all, I want my son to understand that no matter what obstacles he may face in life, he should never give up. I want him to know that he can do anything he sets his mind to and to continue to dream big. I want him to know that I will always be proud of him and root him as he achieves his dreams and
