This provides students with the opportunity to engage with the material taught and subsequently apply it in their daily life experiences. Lortie (2002) states: “Teachers strive to reach students. They manage groups of young people at work. Teachers are also expected to perceive and act on the needs of individual students” (p. 165). This can become difficult when any variable, such as external distractions or students' home lives, can divert you and your students' energies or attention elsewhere. It is also important that educators have fun and want to be lifelong learners. In the teaching profession, it is important to be open-minded, especially regarding new teaching practices that can benefit classroom learning. In addition to developing an open-minded personality, I believe that teaching is not only about continuously evaluating students' work and understanding, but also about a great deal of self-reflection as
