II. THEME OR FOCUS OF THE CAMPAIGN. Statement and description of the issue to be addressed The Oxford English Dictionary defines art as “the expression of human creative skill and imagination, typically in visual form, producing works appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.” Since the beginning of time, art has been practiced as a hobby, solely for pleasure. The satisfaction of performing this pastime can be achieved by expressing thoughts or feelings, providing visual experiences, and creating illusions or magic. Over time, art has transformed into more than just a recreational activity and has evolved to serve a larger purpose. Professionals state that “arts education allows students to make creative connections with art and the world around them” (Campbell 2). Today, the art has been implemented in classrooms across the country as a requirement for students to graduate. Art is believed to “teach problem-solving skills” and allow students to develop “self-expression and self-control” (Campbell 2); however, in our community in particular, the importance of arts education is declining. Campaign objectives: • Raise awareness in the community about the benefits of arts education • Educate specific targets on the importance of art in schools • Gather information on how students feel about art in school • Collaborate with community structures to discuss possible approaches to the campaign• Use brochures and flyers to promote our campaignThe overall aim of our campaign is to highlight the importance of art in the school environment.B. Reason for choosing the problem The Liceo Fiorentino hosts around eight hundred students. Almost all FHS students are willingly involved in some type of study... mid-paper... among the possible sources available to us, we decided to use only those that would allow us to delve deeper into our campaign. Our goal of informing the public about our issue may be best achieved through the use of these specific resources. Keeping our target audience in mind, we researched these sources with the great hope of capturing their attention.
