On the one hand, some argue that the native Indians of New England had ritual practices that created a stable system of self-regulation. It balanced the human impact on the surrounding ecology. On the other hand, one could say that there is no stable way of interacting with the environment. It is always possible to find an unstable reaction. The puzzle forces the reader to explore both the differences between the lifestyles of the Native Indians and the Colonials, and how they influenced the land and its ecology. Through this study it is possible to determine not only what exactly happened, but also what the territory was like before such changes
