Mobile applications may have been foreign before 2000, but their popularity has skyrocketed since then. With the advent of the iPhone, the world witnessed a subsequent shift towards "smartphones", leaving traditional cell phones behind. The most distinguishing feature between the two was the smartphone's ability to download and run these mobile applications. With Andriod, iOS, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and other mobile operating systems supporting mobile applications, it's no surprise that more new applications were developed in 2013 than in any previous year. In the recent past mobile computing has actually become more popular than desktop computing, at least when it comes to interacting with the World Wide Web. A star chart provided by Flurry Analytics does a great job of illustrating just what I mean. As you can see, mobile computing is more important than ever and it would be good for a business to develop an application that can be used on these mobile platforms as a means of reaching their customers. Another advantage of mobile applications is that they are incredibly versatile. There are literally millions of mobile apps that do a variety of amazing things. We have banking apps that allow a user to deposit a check into their account via photo, airline apps that allow passengers to literally download boarding passes to their phones, and apps that allow HD cameras to be remotely viewed and controlled , all from your phone. This is in addition to the countless games, social networking apps, and music players available for download. Mobile applications have come a long way in a short time but there are limitations that we had to overcome and still face today. As… medium of paper… important to them and I personally know some people who own a smartphone despite not owning a personal computer. Mobile application development is something that I believe is very important and will become an increasingly integral part of our society in the years to come!
