Nikola Tesla is a world-famous inventor and electrician. His contributions to the world have changed him, helped him, and helped him develop into the future. But a loss in his family earned him low self-esteem, and his successes paled in comparison to the memories his family had of what they had lost. Nikola Tesla was born on July 10, 1856 in the town of Smiljan which was located in the Lika province of Croatia. Nikola's parents were Milutin Tesla and Djouka Tesla. His father, Milutin, was a priest after failing to stay in the army. The reason his father joined the army was because "an officer criticized him for not keeping his brass buttons polished." (Aldrich, 1) Her mother Djouka acquired mature, motherly responsibilities after her mother became blind when she was a young girl. Djouka was an inventor and invented many things such as churns, looms and kitchen utensils such as a mechanical egg beater. Nikola was the second eldest of his brothers. The eldest was Dane and he had three younger sisters called Angelina, Milka and Marcia. They spent their childhood in the countryside where they were born. As a child, Nikola invented many things and was even a hero. At a young age, Nikola's family moved to Gospic. One Sunday the fireman brought a new fire truck and wanted to demonstrate how well it worked. They lit a sample fire, and when it got too big, they tried to put it out. The pipe, however, was not working and Nikola suspected that it was bent while drawing water from the river. Nikola dived in, untangled the tube and emerged from the river as a hero to the people. This act and the applause for him pushed him to continue inventing because he achieved achievements such as unraveling the h... half of the paper... are inventions and work. In 2009, the laboratory was put up for sale for almost $1.6 million, thus arousing the interest of more people in this project. Since it went up for sale, people have continued to work to raise funds to purchase it and preserve its beauty. The state of New York recently took notice of the Tesla Science Center's efforts and awarded it an $850,000 grant. However, they cannot accept the money until they raise a similar sum. Although a loss in the family severely hurt Tesla and his family, he still succeeded in life. He invented many things that we still use today and even united us as a people. Tesla will forever remain a world-famous inventor and his success will live on along with his name. His understanding of electricity and how things work will forever remain a part of humanity today.
