Topic > Operations Management for Domino´s Pizza - 1389

IntroductionDomino's Pizza is one of the world leaders in pizza delivery. Founded in 1960 in the United States, it operates with owned and franchised stores in international markets (Dominobiz, 2013). In this essay we will look at the operational management of Domino's Pizza, which is the main operation. Then, I will analyze the 4V model of demand attributes for the service, the organization's performance goal, provide the input-transformation-output diagram and the organization's supply network. Finally, provide suggestions to improve Domino's Pizza's core business. Core Businesses and Operation Boundaries Domino's Pizza is operated internationally through a network of 10,255 company-owned and franchised stores, located in all 50 states and more than 70 international markets (Domino's Pizza Annual Report 2012 ). There are three business segments: domestic stores, domestic and international supply chain. The main business of this company is pizza delivery. Based on the number of units and revenue, they rank second among pizza companies in the world. In December 2007 it carries the slogan "you have 30 minutes" to deliver the pizza in that time, but it is late they will receive free pizza or vouchers. Free pizzas do not apply to all countries (Adamy, 2007). On average, across the Domino's system there are over 1.5 million pizzas sold each day and 15 million miles delivered each week (Domino's Pizza Annual Report 2012). This is not a small number. After delivering the pizza, they will receive the order from the customer via the Internet, telephone or by going to the restaurant. Then Domino's staff will record the order using the PULSE system, in the assembly as the staff will prepare the food according to the request. Also,... middle of the paper... they need to improve the quality of the pizza. Also, they need new technologies that help reduce delivery time, for example pizza prepared in store but can be cooked in vehicles during delivery, so the customer will receive fresh pizza from the oven and reduce delivery time. Moreover, this happens because the driver, driving fast and breaking the rules, causes an accident. Therefore, they need to improve the safety and regulation of divers, in order to ensure that the company's reputation is good, so that the lawsuit is not on them. If this happened, it would cause a big loss. Additionally, Domino's Pizza needs to improve the 30-minute guarantee to make delivery more efficient and reliable. When the customer places an order, the system can track the distance and tell him how long exactly it takes to arrive. This makes the promise more realistic.
