Then, God realized that Adam needed a partner to help him complete the tasks He had assigned him; therefore, God created Eve from one of Adam's ribs. In the perfect setting of the Garden of Eden, a partnership existed between man and woman where they worked side by side, but once sin entered the world, the partnership was distorted. Part of the punishment for Eve after the fall was that women's desire "shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you" (Genesis 3:16), meaning that there will now be struggles within the relationship between man and woman, and there the man will dominate over the woman. However, there are still key characteristics that prevail in the way humans interact with each other. In a biblical worldview, marriage should be between a man and a woman, as seen in Genesis 3:24 when it states, "Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife and is became one".
