Through guidance and communication this group was able to uncover our inner beliefs, so when confronted with an opposing view, it was not related as a personal attack directed at our knowledge. As stated by Johnson & Johnson (1988), “Students must feel confident enough to challenge the ideas and reasoning of others” (p. 61). As nurses we will also need to develop a sense of self to feel comfortable enough to recognize and incorporate the ideas of others. This was an important moment, as it not only allowed us to have a better understanding of each other, but also allowed us to respect each other's perspective without it being imposed on our current beliefs.
