He would have been removed, after the capture, the worst he expected was death." (PBS) When it came to slavery in America the situation was very different as these slaves in Africa were treated horribly as American slaves. “The slave was not free to leave his owner's compound or farm and go to another farm, or return home to his parents. And if he tried to escape, maybe he would be sold or killed or something. So it was difficult for slaves to escape.”
