When the concept of reality TV was first introduced, there were only 4 reality shows broadcast. In 2010, that number rose to 320. Reality shows have become one of the most promising industries in media entertainment. While there are many people who laugh at the idea of reality shows, the truth is that most of us still find pleasure in watching them. Popular shows include American Idol, The Biggest Loser and Jersey Shore. These programs cover a wide range of topics, from aspiring singers to aspiring dancers, from avid partygoers to sexy housewives, from teen moms to child beauty pageants. To summarize, reality television shows have negative effects on women; they damage young women's self-image and destroy their moral values. Women today are bombarded by media, whether it's reality TV, social networking sites or otherwise. They are consumed by the pop culture obsession with fashion and fame, when in reality we need more Hilary Clintons and JK Rowlings in our society. While it would be inappropriate to tell girls and women to completely avoid reality shows, it would be wise for them to know what they are getting into when they watch them...
